What are your coolant temps in cold weather? Im thinkin my thermostat is stuck part way open im only hitting 140 150. Its only been getting into the mid to upper 40s the last few days but in the summer I was only running 170 175 unloaded and seems low to me.

mine never seems to get up to operating temp. havent seen it go past the160 mark. this is probably why i keep throwing the p0128 CEL. bought the thermostats today and will see if that solves it

Mine did the exact same thing.... Im from utah also, put new thermostats in and now runs 185-190, heater works much better, and fuel mileage increase...

I have tried new stats in the past and still have the same thing happen, it just runs cold unless I put on the cold front. It bumper cover seems to do more good than just the grill cover. Once I have both covers on, the temps come up and the heater works good.

I do have issues with EGT's if I run the covers above freezing. It makes about 100*-150* of difference depending on the outside air temp and the tune I am running (and this is with the grill cover off, and the bumper cover on).

Even down at 10 degrees with both heaters going I could still hold 175-180 in my BURB so long as I was driving it. Even at an idle though it wouldn't eveer get below about 170 actual temp. Also keep in mind the stock guages are horribly innacurate as most of the ones I have watched will read 190-205 once the engine gets to 160 all the way up to 220, then once it reaches 220 it will jump to 225 on most all of them I have checked.

This reading is off the edge insight the dash gauge runs at the first little line past 160. Noticed today after I got to work and was sitting in my truck while it ran for a min befor I walked in and the temp dropped down to 130 so I think im going to change the thermostat and see if it helps.
Thanks for the responce fellers.

When mine sets P0128 it seems like it's the right temp on the insight (183-188)

Did you try your T-Stats Joe ? What conditions does it set P0128 at? Mine will set the code when it should be about operating temp I'd say. It's never set the code at startup or soon thereafter IIRC. I swapped my upper t-stat housing for a painted one when I did my head gaskets so there's a chance I put them back in the wrong spots if you can do that.
