Has your water pump been changed lately?
X2 some members on here have a theroy that the w/p goes out right before the h/g problem surfaces due to presurizing the coolant system and alot of people have had this happen im just wondering .

Also i take it you have milky oil ?

Here is a possibility....look at my post #9. (http://www.duramaxdiesels.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44196&highlight=Coolant+leak) There is a small horizontal crossover hose you can check but more importantly, the pipe that connects the bottom of the thermostat housing to the water pump. Did you remove this pipe when you did your water pump? It can be very tricky to get that pipe back in without tearing the O ring. Not saying its your problem, just something to check for.
