Coolant leaking on 05

I got an 05 Duramax. It went through a half a gallon of coolant in a month and a half. There is no white smoke no coolant coming out the top of the reservoir I can't see any leaks externally on the motor. The temperature gauge for the engine says its running at 2:10 but the Edge performance says it's running at 182 or something like that. Any help would be appreciated

Check the weep hole on the bottom of the water pump.

A common leak area is on the firewall, there are some plastic fittings for the heater core. I'd start looking there. Have you looked at the weep hole on the water pump? There are hoses to the turbo that are fairly common leak areas too.

Pressure check your cooling system and pull the injectors one by one. Both my heads were cracked in the injector bores.

Water pump. Did mine two years ago took me a week to find and confirm. 05 lly 207 thousand miles.

Top it off at the end of the day. Run it about ten-fifteen miles. Park it. Check for hard hoses the next morning. If there is pressure the next morning, you very likely have leaking head gaskets. You'll find blown combustion rings with the tear down. Usually you will see coolant blow by out of the overflow hose. It will run like that for a long time

If your coolant expansion tank is all black and nasty looking that's a sign of bad hg too...
