LB7: coolant leak

i have a big coolant leak on the passenger side above the starter behind the exhaust up pipe, hard to see the origin. can any one tell me how to access and repair. Is this possibly an access plate. This happened one cold ass morning here in Frederick, Maryland. My fuel filter waxed up also and I replaced it ( easy fix) but didn't notice the coolant leak until the LOW COOLANT warning appeared. I am new to diesels and retired so anything i can do myself will save $$$.

2 bolt cover above the starter it's on the rear engine cover, looks like a football. Mine leaked right where you are saying. Merchant-automotive has a custom plate with an O-ring if you want to go that route. Factory is just a thin paper gasket.

can this be replaced without removing other parts?

Check the valley, there are several coolant lines in that area that fill the valley then drain out the back of the valley, down the back of the engine on the passenger side. There is a drain hole at the back of the valley directing fluids in that area you describe.
