I have a coolant leak coming from what I think is the flywheel access plate behind down pipe on passenger side. Anyone got any good ideas for getting this plate off.

That's not a flywheel access plate. It's a rear adapter block off plate. Coolant flows thru the adapter plate and into the rear of the heads. The plate behind the dp is rectangular shaped and has 2 bolts holding it down. Not sure if the dp needs to come off but it prob does. That plate has a gasket under it. Maybe faulty, remove it and take it to the dealer to get the right shadier. You will never get the correct one without the old one....

Oh, Make sure you check the valley really good before you start tearing into that downpipe… The leak maybe on top of the motor and filling the valley up and then coming down on that side of the adapter plate. Very common.

Also check the engine valley to see if it's dry. There is a drain hole in the back side of the block, It would drain right above the block off plate mentioned above. If it is the plate mentioned I'd recommend just getting the billet plate DHD makes and never have an issue again with it. Just my opinion.

Ok thanks! Yea the valley is dry. I can see the fluid coming from the bottom of the plate. The bottom bolt isn't a problem to get but the top bolts a booger.

Just seen one of these yesterday in a buddies shop. Remove down pipe and replace gasket. Fastest, easiest way. Fairly common from what I've seen. It's like $5 from Gm for that gasket.
