Coolant leak at oil cooler

I got a coolant leak at the oil cooler where the 90 degree piece bolts from the cooler to the flywheel housing. It's leaking where the oil cooler bolts to the 90 degree piece. Any thoughts on this leak? Is there any sealers you guys recommend putting on the gasket to help it seal? It's a brand new gasket, I don't want to keep doing this.

Did you just replace the gasket and now its leaking? You can't just lay the beef to those bolts or it will leak. When I replaced that same gasket it leaked and I had to keep adjusting the "torque" on those bolts to get it to seal.

I torqued it to spec. I did everything in this motor to spec. I tried a little more torque but it just keep leaking.

Is it the two bolts or the studs with nuts. I can't remember but I had to mess with it for quite a while.

I didn't use the studs and nuts. I had a couple bolts that was the same as the two that bolted the other end to the flywheel housing so I used them.

That's what I meant, you are just going to have to play with it. On the rubber gasket side loosen them up just a ****hair and see how it does. That thick rubber gasket is pretty sensitive to overtorque

The rubber gasket folded in on me when I put my motor together and leaked bad. Pulled it off and fixed it. Then the brand new steel on I put in started leaking. So I pulled it, cleaned all the crappy rubber coating off, put rtv on each side, stuck it in, let it sit over night with no coolant, filled her up and been leak free for over two years

The thick rubber one is fine. I am having trouble with the metal one with a coating. Is there a certain direction the raised center part faces? I really don't want to remove the cooler, I hope I can loosen it up and remove a couple bolts.

Just a update, you can unbolt the cooler and slide it out just a little and the adapter will slide right out. Becareful though oil and antifreeze will go everywhere. I'll fill with water tomorrow and check for leaks.

I knew it would, I found myself in the same boat last year on my powerstroke. I just hope it don't leak.

Doesn't matter which side it faces. I used a scotch bright pad on a die grinder and took all the coating off

I used a small amount of Mack sealant on it. I'll keep my fingers crossed if not, I'll replace the gaskets again.
