Convincing a Ford guy to go GM

Local friend of mine does police towing, he has a ford 6.7a and really hates the thing. He wanted a lariat package, ended up sorta half way upgrading it etc..

So, I told him to look into the GM denali packages, and for awhile he was leaning that way but apparently he talked to more tow guys and they have him going back to a ford. Common lore is ford has better frames and of course, the best diesel mota evaaaa kinda mindset.

If you guys could share any "studies" or anything comparing say a recent model year brand wise, that would be great! :thumb:

There are several up here Matt... The D-max handles the severe cold the best. Alyeska runs Duramax exclusively on the slope.

I think it's funny how ford has to change their engine every couple of years (6.0, 6.4, 6.7), but a duramax has always been the same basic engine with some changes here and there. Give the ford 6.7 another couple years and they'll have a new engine out, shows how dependable they are. The 7.3 on the other hand is a different story, why ford ever ditched it is a mystery to me

To each their own I suppose, but the GMT800/900 Chevrolet trucks have been pretty damn reliable, stand the test of time and taken overall "best" in class awards more times than not since their inception...

Besides all that, with the money you'd spend on the repairs needed to own a furd, you can build a pretty sik Chevy Truck...

Unless I missed it, I just read he does towing. How am I supposed to know

As far as I'm aware, you can put a wrecker body on most any cab & chassis.

The comfy part is what I am trying to convince him of, while it would be cool for me to see him grab a denali, at the end of the day, every offering will be overkill. :rofl:

Basically comes down to maintenance items and service stuff for a pure work truck, time its down is money lost. Ironically, he has had a 6.0, 6.4, and 6.7 in light duty stuff, and his medium duty is a NA 7.3 behemoth. Still wants to stay PSD for some reason.

It is easier to keep wrenching on what you know but to completely appreciate all or hate lol you need to change it up I've owned 2 12V's and I just wanted to learn something else
