Does anyone know if this is economically feasible, or should I just sell my truck and look for a dually? I pull a lot of heavier loads now and am concerned about safety and stability.

What year of truck and where are you? I have an '01 3500 Dually I'd like to change to a SRW. One of the fenders is messed up on the bed.

It would be easier to just buy a Dually.
My dad made his 2005 SRW a dually, he took the 2004 dually and made it a SRW so he just swapped parts and beds. It was alot of work

Why was it a lot of work? It seems like you'd take the rear axle and leafs off all in one and swap them over. Then swap beds.

if i rember right the dually have a hevery spring pack (i think) addition of a overload spring is the diference there

rear axle hub changed over or complet axle swap

then you gota add the spacer on the front hubs if you want to run the offset rims on all corners

then the bed

i think that sums up the basic parts that need changed
