Thanks for the offer Dale. I know I couldn't wait till May.... Wow that's a long time. Heck I may forget what power is like if I have to drive my wife's Envoy till then. :D  I have every bit of confidence in the folks at ATS, I believe I will be back in my truck quite quickly. I was reassured I would be taken care of regarding the warranty.

Big thanks to ya Dale!

NOW THATS A STAND UP COMPANY (ATS)!!

Got a call from Wade today, he said he had only seen that type of failure once before. He said the stator split in half of something and has one heck of a wall ornament to look at. Not sure what that means? I have seen torque converter stators, but can't picture what he meant by the type of failure. Mike L., got any ideas?

On a side note, they sent me another converter. No problems with the warranty. :)

That kind of failure happens all the time.

with ATS torque converters or just torque converters in general??? why??

It can happen with any brand of converter. When we sit at the staging lanes under boost waiting for the green light the converter is under monster load and heat. This type of action is a converter builders nightmere. Some people ( who we won't name ) have been known to sit there under boost for 10 minutes.:rofl:

Geez Mike, I thought my 1 minute brakestand was bad enough!

Hell, I've been through 3 ATS convertors now and my 4th is starting to go. I think most of them were from me being too hard on them though. Thats why I dont know how you guys can get away with multiple drag races. I do one or two brakestands and mine gets toasted.......

Mike, this converter failure was unlike the other failures. This failure was sudden and caused the converter feel as though it had 0 stall. This converter would almost stall the engine when placed in gear. The other converters would begin after time to have a higher and higher stall speed until finally driving with them would be a nightmare. Until they locked, they had almost all stall.

Thanks again Mike

I'd like to know why as well. More importantly.

1. They know you have a modded truck w/ a big charger.
2. You are no pansie driver.
3. You tune the truck hard.
4. The trans was just rebuilt? I think.

THEY STOOD BEHIND IT!!

They didn't cop out blaming it on the mods, driving habits or anything else.

Rock on ATS. That's taking care of the little guy that pays full pop for the parts.

Ya James, all the above are very true. This converter was in a newly rebuilt transmission complete with all ATS clutches upgrades ( that I was aware of ) copilot and 0 miles when the converter was installed. I tell ya, if it weren't for me, not shipping it back timely, and failed to pack the converter with the any information, I would have had it long ago. According to them, and the paper work that came with all the upgrades, they went beyond their policy by taking care of this converter ( paid shipping both ways and not serviced by an " authorized service center "). I hope everyone gets this treatment. I feel that by me not blowing up or making accusations I was able to get fair treatment.
