Granville,Oh
Im getting ready to build a set of twins with the stocker and an S475 for an LB7 and he doesnt have a built tranny but wants to do that before the twins. I was wondering what torque converter that you would recomend best for twins.
Thanks

Precision ML is what I was recommended by George (Big Dipper) for what I had planned for my truck(twinned LB7). I left it in his hands and thats what he told me I would be happy with and he knows his stuff to say the least;). I don’t have any other converters to compare it to but it sure does seem to be the best multi-purpose converter out there.

If your going Suncoast 1054, or a 1057

The 1054 is a very tight converter probably too tight from what I have heard... problem with the 1057 is it is very prone to reversing the fins trust me I know. An ML at 2000rpm stall is awesome... Suncoast also offers several other options like the 1058, 1056, 1055, and 1053. Their stalls range but I'd call Mike L. He doesn't' push parts onto anyone and will help you choose the correct converter for your application

For DD and hot rodding the 1057 is awesome and fun... but once you take it too the track and start doing boosted launches and staying on the converter it will take a s**t.

an easy way to see if your fins are reversed is go do a boosted launch and if while on the brakes your truck goes over 2000rpm odds are it is not looking good

Years back I beat the truck pretty hard when EFI, and the converter first hit the market. I think it's seen over 50 15-18psi boosted 4x4 launches. Now the poor thing just drags a camp trailor around and doesnt get much thrashin, I will have to go see what it stalls at pretty sure mines over 2000 also. :D

Thanks for the info, pretty sure It will stay till the trans needs refreshed no matter how bad since its not a racer.

My 1057 is going on 3.5 years, 50K hard street miles, 600+ 1/4 passes in the 11's and 12's, tows the 17,000 lb race trailer and is still going down the race track most weekends.

I love it.

1054 is too tight for a LB7, 1055/53 would create too much heat for a street/towing truck IMO.

1057, 1056 or a ML would be my choice, but contact MikeL for real world info.

Wait a sec, Rob. You saying the 1057 would go well with my twin setup? S366 over S480. I though it would be too tight? I was going to go with either a 1053 or 1055 before reading this
