Does it come out of gear hard? And can you pretty much floor it while brake torquing it?

I would say it slams in to gear more then out… and I haven’t tried to brake torque it since it happened but backing it in the garage i had a hard time stopping it like it was still in lock up..

Could be a busted sprag. I had to damn near stand on the brakes in my ‘07. No matter what make sure you flush your coolers thoroughly. Mike got multiple pieces like this out of mine.

If you drive it, does it shift through all the gears ok and start to feel somewhat normal once you're moving?

What’s everyone’s thoughts on a 4l80 in a 4x4 race/street truck? I’ve been researching a lot most threads I could find were a few years old..

It works well, just need the right builder with the right combo of parts and good tuning.

I’ve googled and googled theres not a lot of info on how people have done it… I have a donor truck that is 4wd. But my main concern is the electronics of it.. is it possible to get an ecm like out of a van to run the engine and transmission? And I have ocd about lights being on on the dash is it possible to get the abs and everything to work? Or would I be better off just going to a stand alone controller ? I apologize for so many questions but now im really torn on what to do..

Stand-alone is the only way to roll if you have any desire to race your truck.

If you just want to put around town, do some occasional towing then factory van os will work.

Buddy Calloway does it very well with his dmax. He knows others using it in 4wd applications. Speak to him.

Then there are several of us doing it in 2wd trucks and in cars. I run a pcs2800, same as buddy to control it. It’s the best there is. Does everything you need. Mine has a brake, custom converter all the good stuff inside. Reid case and bell housing. 4600# car 1.30 60’ 5.64 in the 1/8 8.90 in the 1/4. It works when build properly.

TX of course
Who is tuning the truck? Have you talked to them about your issue? I experienced this problem on an LB7 not too long ago. It seemed to be a boost issue, but it ended up being related to the way the tuner was ramping up rail pressure with RPM causing an increase in fueling without an increase in throttle position.

I know you kind of move on from this part of your issue, but I agree with Josh. My LBZ was exactly the same way. I didn't figure it out until I retuned for larger injectors and it went away.
