Anybody ever hear of or run Conpeco oil? They make engine oils, gear oils and fuel additive. Supposably is used in a lot of big sled pull tractors and ag industry. Their 15w40 is supposed to have a lot higher zinc content along with some other contents not found in others. I ran into the guy at the Mid America Truck Show while I was there with my work.

No complaints so far from me. I just ordered 10 more gallons from them but its the 20w-50 Racing oil. The recovery time, zinc content, tackiness, etc. seem to do well. It is a 100% mineral oil base, so it is not very forgiving if you go too long on an oil change interval since it will tend to coat parts with a film. The lubrication properties will remain the same, the engine will just appear dirty when disassembled.

Will that coating stay on the cylinder walls then like on the parts?

I am no expert, hopefully someone else will chime in with more specific oil property knowledge. It will try to build up in the places that do not see movement or much flow, similar to sludge but not the same principle.

Its great oil, so don't be discouraged. Just remember that it is not regular Delvac when it comes to interval lengths. I am sure the regular 15w-40 has additives in it to help longevity where typically a race specific oil will break down faster.

Where's DNewton when you need him, eh?

If you're using an oil in a racing application, you arent going to run long intervals anyways.

That's good to know. I'm not too involved with the sled or drag events but I'll take the knowledge on what you guys do know about it to pass along in case someone asks me

That's all we used at the junkyard I used to work at. That oil was used because of the lack of maintenance.... 500hr intervals.

Machines get abused to all holy heck, get over heated all the time during summer. During winter they get sprayed with ether and fired up and very minimal time to warm up. Have engines with over 20000 hours in the fleet that have never been overhauled.

I'm 100 percent a believer
