Confusion caused by ECM replacement, and, LLY in LB7 transplant

I did an LLY transplant into an '03 LB7. It was really a worthwhile change ! Runs great with Kory's EFI tune!

But!..... We had issues with getting the truck to start. The shop doing the upgrade changed the ECM to an '05 LLY ECM. Turned out that he had the wrong cam sensor in the replacement LLY (My screwup for using him).

Anyhow....Ended up with an ECM out of an '05 2WD 3500 dually - not a 4WD Cab and Chassis. The dual fuel tanks in my Cab and Chassis now do not feed fuel from the rear tank because the ECM is programmed for the single 36 gal tank. As a result my fuel guage stays screwup all the time. And I can't use the full tank of fuel in the back tank.

How can I reprogram the ECM for dual tanks ?

Have Kory rewrite the tune for dual tanks.

Talk to your tuner as thats an easy tune fix. I probably have a file that you could swap the fuel system segment with to work. But if you have somebody tuning it already, they should have no problem getting you a compatible os for it.

Also the fuel gauge can be reprogrammed. IIRC they run backwards after the swap.

I've been back and forth with Dustin at PPEI - who goes back and forth with Kory via email.
Kory wants my stock file to be able to do anything with the dual fuel........I don't have a stock file to send him. My ECM now does not have the proper stock file.

And Rick...... Kory did correct the reversed fuel guage. He did that as the first update to my original tune.
My fuel gauge now does not show full scale. It is empty at 1/2 tank position ( I know that because I ended up sitting on the side of the road out of fuel).

If I could get the dealer to reflash the E60 LLY ECM with my LB7 program......

That way I would have the proper LB7 stock file that matches my truck. Can that be done?

I do not have my LB7 ECM. It was turned in as a core.

What I suggest you do is to go online to autotrader.com, and find a 3500 cab and chassis truck equipped like yours. Get the vin off of it, then you could have that file flashed in, reverse the senders, and you'd be set.

Sounds like a great idea.

I need to find an '04.5 or '05 LLY Cab and Chassis, 4WD, Extended Cab, Duramax Allison VIN that the dealer can flash to my present E60 ECM.

That is what I originally did, but then was stated backwards, flipped it, now showing 1/2. Oddball one I suppose.

Just saw this thread. Do you still need an lly cab n chassis stock file? I can have one pretty easily since a friends dad has one. But his is also a zf6 which shouldn't matter I don't think.

I'll take it if you have it! I actually don't know if I have a c&c Zf6 LLY file... I'm sure I do just buried somewhere!

I'm in the middle of swapping a LLY into my 03 but havnt bought any electronics yet can any one help me on exactly what I need to buy... Like on this post are you saying I need to find a ECM off of a truck that's the same as mine as far as 4x4 single tank single rear wheels and 2500hd Silverado

I'm being told the main harness that runs to under the fuse box needs to be changed to one out off a LLY but I can't find one any where ... Any suggestions?
