um ya probably :D

here is some pics of what i did today

i have wanted to do this mod for a long time

i purchased a 10.2" computer monitor from MP3car.com

and installed it today quite easily this is what it does:

i put my lap top in the back seat and plug in 1 cord this connects it to a docking station under the seat

play music from media player

run a MS gps

watch movies while driving

back up cam( wireless webcam )

and most importantly EFI i am building a custom dashboard for all the stuff i need to monitor and its right at my fingertips

the monitor is a touch screen:D and it has 2 other vidio inputs so i used one for the RSE and tied into that as well incase i dont have mt lap top

all my music goes thru the RSE but is contrlled either by remote or the touch screen

and all the wires are hidden

all for less than 1000 bucks besides the lap top but i already had this
such a geek:D

That looks sweet!! Not a bad price either. Still out of reach for me but less than what I thought for what you got. Cool feature for sure!

You gonna do a right-up? :D

Nice,

Sweet I was thinking about going with a built in PC but the laptop option would be lots better.

I want this because of GPS and backcountry roads available with programs like delorme.

What is your connection to the radio system? Is the laptop mounted under the backseat? What about an external DVD/CD drive behind the monitor with the monitor having the ability to fold down?

What about a small wireless keyboard?

Well - need to win some more money on FullTilt to pay for the goodies!

i use Garmin enrought for the gps

i tied into the factory speakers using the factory RSE DVD inputs

i am thinking about getting a small keybord wireless ofcourse
right now i have a wireless mouse but when im saving logs i cant change the names

i bought a docking station and its mounted under the back seat all the power and USB plugs ar tucked away and this makes it so its just one plug into my laptop and im good to go

i recently bought a webcam to use as a back up cam but cant figure out how to get it to work without using a live chat? and being connected to the internet

i do love the GPS but this type dosnt seem to track..maybee some more fiddling with it might help
the media player is nice for all the music and sounds way better than using the stock cd player
the EFI at my fingertips is nice and makes it easier to start/stop logging instantly
if you have the factory dvd the aftermarket monitor has 2 external vid inputs one is used for the dvd player one spare for now and the computer is using the rgb input

if you want i can send some pics,im just not good at shrinking the pics to post here

QUOTE]

this was the problom when i went to the stereo shops to ask if i could plug in a lap top you need to have the right input for the laptop or its useless
sure they have vid inputs but you have issues controling the computer

Also they all said it couldnt be done..i really hate that logic

i took out the black plastic piece that pops out
there is a lip that holds the black shelves in there

i then used a dremal and a razor and trimmed off the lip and thats it! that easy it fits like it should be there and nothing but black silicone holding it in there and its rock solid due to the factory plastic pieces behing the shelves
the power is from the factory DC plugs that had to come out anyways
ill send some pics

all i can say is take your time

I'd like to see more pics...........Don't know if this would work but our computer tech was telling us about a virtual keyboard, said cost was around $150.00, bet that would fit in there good. :beer
