Yeah i thought they look pretty good. I've never seen a reading as high as 440. usually in the 380-400,, maybe 410 range. IF it's leaking real bad and you only want to do one side, sometimes you can pull the t-stat housing cover off and pressurize cylinders one at a time with a leak down tester and look for bubbles.

Well the original symptions were really shotty and inconsistant balance rates (usually concerning cylinder 5) and lots of pressure in the cooling system. But sporadically. Not every day would this pressure build

spec is 390 +/- 50. Looks good in my book. Burning coolant wont cause rust, but living on the jersey shore will. You need to get a pressure tester and pressurize the cooling system and leave the glow plugs out of it over night.

and if it's bad coolant will come out of the glow plug holes? That or maynot work seeing as I have an external colant leak somewhere but it only shows itself under very high pressure

Put the hose of of the degas bottle into a bottle and run it for a while. When my gaskets were leaking, i would only get pressure when i ran it long or hard, it would push small ammounts of coolant out of the bottle when the ptrerssure goit to high but never do any more than that, the rad hose would get hard and stay hard....for days even with out running the truck. mine wasent a blowed gasket just a bad choice of gasket, but casue same problems!!

If coolant issue leaking internally it will come out the holes if not you will see coolant leaking externally. The factory radiator cap blows open around 15psi. So put around 20-25 paid of pressure in the system and let it sit over night.

Well coolant does leak externally but only when the system is under extreme pressure. It ends up dripping off the front main pulley but I've yet to try and find it's source

Delete your EGR completly, i just did new gaskets/studs on my motor plus i removed the EGR. I pressure tested the EGR cooler and sure enough it wasnt holding pressure. Plus my gaskets were leaking to the outside so it was an easy diagnosis. Good Luck

well going up the road now to rent the coolant pressurizing pump thingy..

so after i pump it up should i just look for coolant coming out of the glow plug holes?

The dealer performed all the test on my truck and passed! But upper hose was still hard. The rad hose started off hard then soft then consistantly hard never losing pressure. The manager gave the green light to do the job. Funny thing was the next truck that came in when mine was done passed all test.

Ok so now I'm really second guessing myself. After actually putting 15psi in the system I realize mine must of not really made all that much pressure. Cause I could always squeeze the hose a little. It was never like a rock
