What's going on everyone. Id like to get peoples opinions on what you guys would recommend for a compounded turbo over my new Danville 65mm. I am not looking for the most HP or TQ, but something that we be a great daily driver and used for towing every so often, mostly DD. I realize that having a built trans is a must (which will get done). I am just really wanting to research and get some feed back on what would be a
"perfect match" for the 65mm in a compound setup. a/r sizing. cast or billet wheel "preferably billet" if there is a real difference, and a 5 blade etc. Hit me with some knowledge. Thanks

Garrett :D

A box t6 s480 is really cost effective and does the job.

On my 6.7 ford I spent way too much having a custom kit built to run a pte gen2 8891 over a 66/70 modified charger in the valley and that was great from a spoolup and power standpoint but I can't say it was worth the extra $5-6k to have it done unless budget isn't really a concern.

I have talked to a guy over there and he said a 5 blade. S480. But I don’t want to spend 2k+ for something when I can get something comparable at a cheaper price.

Like I said, box t6 s480. Think they are $1200? For an 80/96 1.32

You can swap chargers later if you get an s400 compound kit. Tons of options to tweak it if you don't like the box charger.

You asked for a recommendation/best, not a "budget" option.

Forced Inductions offers their S480/96 T6 with their billet wheel for $1299 + shipping so call it $1350-$1375. That is your choice of housing. That said, according to Forced Inductions, their charger outperformed a V2 covered 5 blade 480 with the same turbine housings and turbine. They didnt say by how much but they did tell me it wasn't an in house test, it was done on someones dyno. Personally, the customer service and quality from Forced Inductions is hard to be as well as their pricing.

True, you got me on that one. Your right I should have said, budget friendly. My mistake. Ok thanks for the recommendation, in your opinion what "should the a/r be on for a 95% daily driver. Just the 1.32 that I see everyone going with? Or something a little tighter lol, for a more low end power. While keeping in mind the 65mm in the valley.

What's the fueling setup? If you don't have injectors that are going to Max out the setup try a 1.15 housing.

If you're not going to be maxing the setup out or aiming for 1000hp plus I would personally go 1.15 for the better street manners. If you take it to the strip or push the setup you will definitely gain power by going to the 1.32 OR you could gate around the 1.15 if you choose.

Stock injectors. But I have a 10mm cp3 from fleece that I just installed. Definitely not maxing out. Just a good overall daily driver, that has some good power.

I can tell you for a fact mm size to mm size the custom wheel combo will hands down out perform the box units in any comparison. I would say there isn’t many 66/480 twin kits making over 1200 hp and the only way to do that is out money into good parts. It’s a trade off. The box units are cheap and may get you by but to have that same sized unit and make the power of larger sized chargers is worth the money. You keep the drivability of the smaller charger but the performance of a larger one. Pick your parts wisely and you will more than satisfied.

So I see HSP offers billet s480/96 don't know the a/r size for $1,378

Forced Inductions- billet s480/96 t6 1.32 a/r for $1299 but offer +$199 for t4 housing with a/r .90. 1.00, 1.10, 1.25 (no 1.15 a/r)

WC fab offers a s480 as well but its to expensive compared to the others.

It’s t6. From Forced Inductions you can get 1.10, 1.15, 1.32. Their website is outdated. I purchased my 480/96/1.10 direct from them.

If forced inductions offers it. I think I might go with the a/r of 1.25. Something in between 1.15 and 1.32. Maybe best of both worlds with down low spool up and up top. Or is my thinking off?
