Anyone know if the ball joints on the tie rod ends on the Cognito HD rods are the same as the OEM ball joints? I'm assuming so since no knuckle modifications are required, to quote Fingers..."but what do I know".

They arent same as stock.... they are beefier in the ball and socket area, but the shaft size to fit into the spindle is the same.

May want to double check with NorCal Nick... and hes your man to purchase them from as well.

Check out his new forum at the bottom of the homepage here.

That's the info I was looking for. Nick and Cognito are the defacto standard. I don't think I've seen another vendor praised for their products and support on any forum as much as Nick.

The reason I asked is I was looking at a system also from exaxt.ca. The have a slightly different approach which is interesting, but I read their outer ball joint is the same as stock. Fact or interwebby gossip, I don't know.

BTW, Psycho, yours and Neens avatars rock! The little oriental gal was sweet too!

Hey thanks guys ...

Redbone,
The only thing I see about the exaxt.ca. is that it requires you to change the center link to there new straight center link. The problem with that is when you turn the left and right tire will not be in sink and 1 tire will point slightly off from the other. I have never used a straight center link but I do remember that someone made them for sled pulling trucks and it was said to be very strong but for driving on the street tire ware is aggressive.

As for the Cognito HD tie rods:

The HD rods drop right into the factory spindles or aftermarket and bolt to the center link like factory. These used with Cognito steering braces will provide a strong longer lasting steering package.

I would be that soul. You needed to have the straight center link aligned correctly to keep tire wear down. It wasn't made to win donut contests like the stocker. It was to keep you safe when delivering big power for pulling or down the 1/4. It gave the front end much control and made it more solid steering.

They still make the heim style but there are a ton of truck owners that live in bad weather and the heims are very strong but are open element. With the HD sealed style they will work for pretty much everyone. Since SEMA 07 when we they came out with in the first month I sold more HD rods than I ever did of Heim style. These things move, priced right and strong!
