This is a new engine with new S&S torquer master 10% injectors, the entire fuel system is new minus the tank and lines from tank to engine. truck starts right away and runs smooth, no hesitation or anything. i do hear a very slight tick, but not sure if that is anything other than normal diesel engine sounds. code only sets after i have driven for a bit and everything is up to temp and i let the truck idle in park. if i park and turn the truck off immediately it wont set and when i got to start if i get into gear and go it wont set. S&S suggested testing the voltage and resistance at the plug, which tested at 26 volt and 10 ohms. i tested the harness at injectors 2,4and6 all with the same results. i know these should be 48 volts and 0.3ohms. which makes me wonder if im doing it wrong/ my harbor freight tester is wack. it should be noted that the ecu still has the old tune (until next tues), which was built for dynamite 40% over injectors, and i have not reprogrammed the injector codes. S&S said it was not necessary with smaller injectors, but wondering if going from large to small would warrant it.

i put 30 miles on the truck today with 3 stops and i just shut the truck off right when i parked with no code. even though my values when testing the injector plug are off, the fact that they were all the same and the engine runs well makes me thing thats not the issue.

Is the balance rates in drive or neutral? Also what's the base mm3. #2 and #5 look suspicious but without more info it may be nothing

i rechecked the balance rates today after getting the engine warmed up. first image is in drive with the brake second is park.
the 3rd and 4th are the mm3 or at lest why the edge is registering in drive w/brake on (pic #3) and park. rail pressure is commanded at 4300 and actually is really close to that. it set the code while i was getting this info. i noticed in park #2 crept up to -5.8 for a second the. dropped back.

In drive, #2 is out of spec and #5 is borderline. Dumping too much fuel and the ECM is trying to pull it back

is that something i can correct by reprogramming the flow rates or do those injectors just need replaced? they are remanufactured S&S injectors i bought and installed with the new engine.

Flow rates in the lower (idle) part of the tune definitely need to be correct for accurate readings but 10% is not that far off so more then likely it will still be bad. You can give it a try if you have access to the tune and know what to do. A flow sheet chart for your injectors would help big time

S&S doesn’t give flow sheets with the smaller injectors. i watched some videos where guys with aftermarket injectors were using a tech 2 and copying the injector code with the best balance rate to all the other injectors. does this seem like a potential solution? i bought new tunes that i should be getting today or tomorrow.

That approach is a band-aid at best. The injectors should have a flow rate code on them from the factory and if modified should come with a new code. That code could be put in with a tech 2. But there shouldn't be that large of a difference between balance rates on new injectors unless you have other issues such as low compression.

I'd get S&S on the phone and see what they say

before we condemn the injectors, you need to first figure out for a fact what the voltage and ohms are. if you dont trust the equipment you are using, we cant rule it out.

Second, you should be flashing a 100% stock tune in before checking balance rate. then give us all the info. tunes can screw with teh blaance rates and with the 10% overs or the 40% overs, a stock tune is best to look at them with.

ok, i’m still learning about the efilive but from my understanding i would need to have a stock tune file that i can upload on the autocal to then put on the truck? correct? problem is i bought this truck without a engine but it came with the autocal. which is now disconnected and waiting for new activation code from new tuner. is there some tests i can do on the ecu to confirm everything is good there then work out towards the injector? i have a pin out of the ecu, just not sure what to test and what results should be.

an autocal is not efi live. what you have is essentially a box tuner that allows you to log and get custom tunes to flash in. have the tuner send you a stock tune or ask if the current revised tune will have any affect on the balance rates as you are seeing some pretty bad numbers on brand new injectors. (there are certain tables they can mess with that will change it). pin out wont do anything other than you need to re-verify your ohm and volt readings with a known good reader.

ok new tunes are on the truck. balance rates are similar still. i emailed tuner about affect to balance rates, waiting on response. i will locate a better tester. is it logical that if my shitty tester gets the same (inaccurate)results on all cylinders and i’m only setting the one code and the truck runs well that the wiring and ecu aren’t the issue?

balance rates with new tune. in park

That would be cylinder.

Will damage occur? No one can really know until we get to the bottom of weather those balance rates are accurate or not. My guess is you will be ok but I'm all the way on the other side of the internet and have not seen the truck in person
