OK so this morning i head down to get breakfast and about a mile into the drive i hear a loud pop, and then a clunking noise from under the truck. the fwd still works fine. so when i get home i put the truck up on jack stands and check the drive shaft it all seems good except the transfer case is making a loud clunk now. all the u-joints seem good. and i don't think its the rear-end that seemed tight. my carrier joint also seemed loose i could wiggle it around pretty good. i think that the problem is in the transfer case, the rear output shaft has some up and down play in it, and the noise it makes when you turn it with your hand doesn't sound good. any help would be great thanks.

the sound is quiet on the vid but trust me its loud. i think the transfer case sound is the parking paw in the trans. i went out and tried putting the truck in neutral with the back jacked up and turning the drive shaft i can get about three turns out of the drive shaft and then it kinda locks up. and i can't turn it without using both hands and giving it a good yank. hope this isn't from pulling that horse last night, but i think it is

OK so its not the transfer case. pulled the diff cover and found that one of the pins for the spider gears came part way out and was hitting the pinion  so i hammered it back in and put a spot weld on it just to hold it in there till i can get it fixed for good. so what do you guys think i should do, get a Detroit locker or just take it to the dealer and see if they'll fix it for me?

I used ACCU auto parts, google it. A couple of weeks ago they were the cheapest. This wek it might be Randys ring and pinion, Kat posted her place it has a good price as well. Make sure the "deal" doesn't short you the controls/switch (ebay?)

Good luck, lookin aT $740 +/-?

I got a locker last week. ACCU was cheaper on that. I ordered everything I needed from them and then got my invoice.
They were cheaper on the locker but the AAM rear diff was over $200 higher than Randys! I do think that ACCU was cheaper on the carrier bearings than Randy's though also. Just make sure you get prices on EVERYTHING!
