When I get the tools to remove & re-install the front seal on my motor, I want to pull the fan, shrouds, balancer, etc and clean the front of my motor as it's covered with oil from the leaking seal. would it be ok to clean the front of the motor and underside of the truck with a pressure washer?

I would say it depends. If you really hose the thing down, you can drive water into places that you never want to have water. If you are careful.....maybe. I would not use the pressure washer like a brush and use the fan spray to clean off the grease and oil in 6" wide passes.

I refuse to use a pressure washer on my motorcycles because you CAN/WILL drive water into the wheel bearings.

I have been thinking about this myself, and I think I would use a foaming engine cleaner and a garden hose, at least until I get the engine out of the truck, then it is pressure washer time on the cross members and frame rails.

If you are worried about the pressure washer, try Tide with Bleach Alternative with the garden hose. I mix the Tide 50/50 with water. Basically spray whatever you are washing with water and then coat the entire area with Tide. Leave it sit for 5 minutes and the grease will just run off. Minimal scrubbing needed. Then hose it off. If it is really thick, you'll probably have to repeat a couple times. Then I use the air hose and chuck to dry. This is how I started washing my bike this year and it works awesome. My bike was coated with oil from a leaking base head gasket, and it got the bike as clean as ever. The only thing to watch is that this will cut the wax off of things. Shouldnt be a problem on your engine though. On my bike I just use Quick Detailer spray when I wipe it off and that helps a bunch on the wax end of things. I thought Simple Green worked good - this puts it to shame.

How did any of these work out for you? I need to clean everything off my motor, got the junky stuff off with diesel fuel but I want to get the aluminum back shinning like it was new. It is stained up still.
