Is one of the current moderators supposed to monitor the classifieds to watch for things like scamming, disputes, following rules of the site and CLOSING ADS THAT THE ITEM(S) HAVE BEEN SOLD once the seller says so???

I sold my dually bed YEARS ago. I've asked repeatedly that the ad be closed or moved or removed or something and I'm assuming it has still not been because even TODAY I get PM's asking if it's still available or "very interested" yada yada yada. Apparently most people don't read to the end of the thread or else they'd see that the last several posts are about the fact that the bed has been sold and resold in fact.

Can we PLEASE get some attention on that stuff?

You've been on the forums far to long not to not know you can just close your own thread. How you don't know makes me wonder.

As has already been said, you can close your own threads in the garage sale section, but if you ever see a problem or something that needs the attention of the staff, use the report post button. I promise it will be taken care of.

my apologies. I erroneously assumed it was not closed since I still get PM's about it. thats what I get for assuming. :D I checked & its closed. Now that its mentioned, I believe I did find out I could lock it previously & did so. or I might have reported it with the report button & asked for it to be locked. either way, it is locked.

Sorry for not remembering that I could do that if I hadn't already done so. I have been around a while but I haven't sold many things so that wasn't so "second nature" to me.

I wonder if others have the same issue I do in getting PM'd years after something is sold even though the ad is closed? I wonder if it'd help if we had a Sold subsection to move the closed threads into? or limit them from showing up in searches since thats surely the way the old items get found? my ad had to be dozens of pages deep into the classifieds.

No matter what they can't add the ability to fix stupid. Regardless of what you do I'm sure you're going to get some real geniuses PM you about sold adds. Just look at some of the random posts you'll see from some one that clearly found a thread through searching Google, didn't actually read more than one post, and then they post.

This is likely what is happening. They see the for sale, don't notice it's locked or the date and PM the seller.
Not much we can do I don't think but archive all the closed threads older than 4 months maybe??

On other forums I have seen where a closed thread is removed from sight or deleted after so many days closed. Might be something they can look into here.

I guess I had sand in my vag yesterday & was cranky? its really a mute point. I don't get contacted constantly so I can just suck it up & deal with it or ignore the numbskulls when they contact me. :D

sorry to stir up anything.

try putting your phone number early in the thread...

I'm still getting occasional calls from my thread when my oil psi sensor went out when I was in NC in 2009 I think.

They read far enough in to see my #, then just call to see what fixed it instead of scrolling down a few posts

Give me a link to post and I'll remove your number.

I deleted it :thumb:
