classic body door pins and weather stripping

hey guys, just like the title says. i have an extended cab and i already replaced my door pins once already on the driver side, got the parts right from gm. Lasted about a year. Looking for a better kit, anybody have any ideas?

also would like to freshen up the weather stripping on both sides. Any ideas on that as well for brands? thank again

I got the door pins from Rock Auto with the bronze bushings and are greasable. Awesome quality for the price. Also, genuine GM rubber will be much less headache than dorman, which require more holes to be punctured in them to allow air to escape when crushed.

I just replaced my driver side door seal, 2003 extended cab. It was a bit of a chore to find the right part number with all the various cab configurations, but I can confirm now after receiving the correct part, the driver's side is GM p/n 15063154. It was a perfect fit, as it should be. Found it for around $90 on ebay - selller was a GM dealership in AZ. I am almost positive the right side is p/n 15063153.

By chance do you have a link? I searched on there pretty good and don't see the product your talking about.

If you have an 07 classic then Dorman has a hinge pin kit for you. Dorman number is 38453. Company I worked for sold a similar kit and I installed some on our delivery trucks. Before we sold the company I kept the kit for 07-13 GM trucks but this one was greasable.

We sold a lot for the 99-06 trucks. They were a very nice kit. I kept this newer 07-13 kit cause I drove an 09. I lubed them so they never wore out in the 5 years I had it. I bought a 13 Silverado and same thing but had it for 8 years. I then bought my current 13 Sierra and the pins are perfect. I’d hate to sell my kit as I may need it down the road as I plan on keeping this truck for a while.
I only get Canadian sites for Dorman products. Go to Dormans website and get you kit number. Google that number and hopefully you will get local suppliers.

Just bought this kit for my CCSB. It’s shit. I have almost as much play after as I did before. Knurled pins don’t lock in the old hinge. Just spend the money on all new hinges.

Your hinges were too far gone then. I have not seen or used the Dorman kit.

How could they be too far gone? I had to cut flush and then beat the old ones through. New pins were loose when installed because they don’t oversize the knurled end of the pin to account for this. New bushings also installed so that’s not the end that’s the problem. It’s the clapped out hole that’s left after one pounds what’s left of the old pin through.

And the BS tiny clip to hold it in is dumb.

A virgin bracket that’s never had pins installed or just a whole hinge are the only ways to go.

they dont even make this kit anymore. the part number looked up does not have grease fitting in them like the picture above.

I meant I just bought the current Dorman kit. Junk. Not sure why they just don’t have bolt in pins. There’s lots of room.

Sounds like its time to buy new hinge kits from GM. Dads truck new pin kits didnt help so put new hinges and what a difference it made. Gonna do the same to mine sometime.

That’s not a Dorman kit. It’s from a manufacturer we dealt with when we sold those kits.

That’s right. That’s not the part that wears in the hinge though. It’s the pin/bushing that wears. The knurled end is supposed to fit tight in the hinge hole after. But it doesn’t do to the poor design of the pin and the fact the stock pin is mushroomed after being pressed in. You have to cut the mushroom off and then pound what’s left through which often will leave the hole bigger than the knurled end of the pin or tight but not tight enough to really grab it. It’s a bullshit design.
This is the kit I used below and the only one Napa had available. There is a kit with a nut to hold it but you can only make it so tight so there’s a chance that the same problem can happen. Just buy new and be done with it for another 200 000 miles.
