Class C motorhome opinions/ questions?

Ok guys.
Me an the girl have the opertunity to throw everything in storage and travel the country for a long while.
Initially we were looking into class b vans but there just to small for our liking plus we are bringing pets. So now we are searching for class Cs in the 22 to 25 foot range. We don't want to be confined to a camp ground and want to be comfortable in the woods or the city with it.
We like the Mercedes. They are super plush but I'm not I'mpressed with there water or fuel storage size and they are expensive.
At the moment we have found some Coachman floorplans that are pretty close to what we are looking for I'll attach some pics. Basically we want a u or j shape dinette preferably that slides out. A permanently mounted bed min 54 wide but would prefer a 60. We don't mind if the bed slides out as long as it doesn't have to fold when sliding in. And a bed over the cab.
Basically have three drive train options and four motor options.
Mercedes, Ford 350, Chev 4500
3.0 Mercedes diesel.
7.3L Ford v8
Triton v10
Chev 6.0 v8
Just looking for some input from some that have this size or experience with this stuff or some good or bad on the different brands and motors.

As much as it pains me to say this... the v10 beats the 6.0 in the motorhomes.... 7.3 I don’t have much input as it’s so new. Mercedes diesel isn’t much to write home about.

I prefer a bed room slide out where the bed is not apart of it. You get less wind noise on a windy day and holds heat better on cold nights. Get the slides that give you the most interior space.

Get the largest a/c unit or duals if at all possible for summer. Generators usually come in choice or gasoline or propane fueled. I prefer the gasoline as the lp gen sets burn through it faster and it uses the same share tank for your stove, heater, fridge, and water heater.

It wouldn’t hurt to bring a Honda 2k genny with you in storage if you don’t have solar that can charge the batteries efficiently. You can let that bugger run all day and all night to keep things charged or run things (everything but the a/c unless it’s a small a/c). One .75 gal tank will last 8-10 hours. I run mine all day long on every camping trip and shut it off at night (I like the peace from nothing running)

I’m not sure about in a motor home, but at work we have a 11 f550 bucket truck with the v10 in it. I have to say I’ve never driven such a gutless pig in my life. Poor thing screams just to get up a hill even without a trailer. Maybe I’m just used to the diesel torque but it’s painful.
Just a question tho, why not go travel trailer with your truck?

Just not going to work easily with what we want to do. We be needing to easily park in driveways or to just pull over and park. We will also be spending time in quite a few city's that we will need to maunver around in.
Also we don't want to have to have a base camp to have to go back to. That takes up alot of time just driving back and forth.

Figured I'd check in on this.
We ended up with a 2015 Thor Axis 24.1. They call it a mini class A. So it's a class A body on a class C chasie.
It's got more interior room than a comparable class C but it's still only 25.6' long. Does have the v10 in it, a 4000 ohnan generator, and a 15 btu ac and one slide in the living area.
It also has a 175 w solar system that's expandable up to 500 with the controller that's in it.
We are pretty stoked. Ended up with almost everything we wanted that we weren't able to find in the class Cs.

Been a while since I've looked at RVs, but never have I ever seen a windshield that huge. I guess it would make for a great view while cruising the mountains

Ya definitely big. Tried talking a buddy of mine that does tint for a living to tint it and he's to scared of it breaking from the heat that would be needed to apply it.
I'm not looking to find out what the replacement cost is either. Lol

ah it will be fine. those windows see more abuse from the chassis twisting than that heat will cause.

get good glass coverage though, my god that stuff aint cheap.

How much is that rated to tow?

I tow my pulling truck 6500 lbs, plus trailer (roughly 1800 lbs) to a bunch of pulls. Some are out of the way and some are overnights. Prior to my colon cancer I would just pull it with my Duramax without issue, but now I need overnight accommodations and my own shower/TOILET. Looking at getting some sort of RV with built in shower/toilet and don't need anything big, but as soon as I state I'm towing 8000 lbs, salemen jump me up to the big diesel pushers (way too big and out of my budget for occasional trips).

Ideally, I just need a bed, shower, toilet and A/C (as most pulls are in the dead of summer with NO shade) with a little space (I/we are not camping in it). I've even researched slide ins as I bumper tow the trailer but with a shortbed I don't have a ton of options for toilet/shower which is the MAIN concern.
