Says it doesnt... curious how they got around it with the new increased output?
Around here, the dealers are telling evryone with a failure that it was abused. Warranty voided.

Oh... I was answering the question above yours (usually I'm good about quoting lol)... I was saying it says they dont use urea, and I was curious how they got away without using it with their new increased output....

But now that you bring it up.. that sucks for the customer :( I still believe the only way I'd own a cummins would be if it had an NV5600

they probably cranked up EGR through the roof, and increased DPF regen cycles.

which translates to worse fuel economy and clogged up turbos/intake tracts.

I'd rather have a used 03 twin turbo lb7 with 150,000 miles and NOT stock trans, stereo, shocks, brakes, tires, than a new anything (ok Denali Dually ok). I borrowed my Dad's 06 Dodge lat month to go ice fishing (my weak ally) and could feel the frame flexing with my camper on. Torque was awesome, everything else you can keep.

What is Selective Catalytic Reduction ? Is that fancy talk for DPF?

Also, I don't get the original post. In one part it says available 390hp and then in another part of it says 350hp. Did I miss read something there??

Either way, I still would rather have a proven 12y/o Dmax/Ally combo than a POS Ford or cheap Dodge with an iffy trans.

SCR = technical term/name for urea injection.

The manual transmissions are limited to the old hp/tq ratings.

BUT even on the auto trans hp ratings, there are some descrepancies among different web pages. For example, the "ram trucks" website (wtf I still dont understand why they disassociated from dodge all of a sudden and now just call themselves RAM, did they think it was gonna make us forget that they are still the same chrysler/FIAT crap??) it says 350hp/800ft lbs...but with the capability to go to 390hp??? Then other websites say the trucks are indeed 390/800??

It will be interesting when they actually run it side-by-side against the Duramax. Ford already got ass-pounded by the LML. Will Dodge as well? My guess is yes.

Why? Chevy has a legacy of under-rating their powerplants compared to other MFR's. At the brochure, Ford has 400HP/800TQ, to the Chevy's meager 397HP/765TQ. But when it was time to whup out the measuring stick, Ford's excuse was, "It shrinks when I'm cold!!" For Chevy the weather was fine.

Next up Dodge. Get the excuses ready Goat Boys.

..............

Kinda makes this statement redundant then no?? - "........without the need for Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)."
The operative word there being "AND".

I dunno......it's still a POS Dodge.

Yeah can anyone tell me what is up with the hp rating. I thought it said something like it is 350hp and capable of 390hp at "highway speeds" WTF does that mean??

Best guess is that they derate through the ECM to protect the trans in the lower gears.

That was my exact thinking... maybe the tranny can't handle the shifts with the extra power?

Seems pretty stupid to me, I think this is just a quick bandaid fix for Dodge not being competitive
