Makes sense... compound turbos are such a "neat" thing :thumb:

Question is... buy the 475 and fab it up... and blow the Allison sky high.. or do it right and save, save, save and build the trans first lol (not as much fun)

do it right and build the trans. this is coming from someone who knows all to well.

Def the better choice :(... thing is I have built several turbo setups from scratch, so I could put a 475 on my truck.. but I have not rebuilt an Allison before (actually never built a trans period).. plus the $$$ for parts.

I put my bike up for sale today.. if it goes I will finish my car up and have a chunk of change to put towards a trans... (Fingers crossed)

You can get the tighter A/R in the t-6 housing but the turbine wheel is smaller , in the 96mm inducer t-6 housings 1.32 is the norm , hope fully something looser and tighter comes available , in high power aps using the S480 i found the tubine side to be too restrictive to get boost / drive pressure to a 1:1 ratio , and on a towing set i would like a 1.20 a/r , just a little tighter than the 1.32 .

What's the Garrett price diff. over the s-475's? Keep seeing Garrett fans staying with that so always wondered if they last longer or better.

Garrets are fine chargers i will be running some on my truck next year , but in this case the t-4 or t-6 Garrett 4202 is almost the same price as each other unlike the Borg where the t-6 is alot cheaper , so basically double the cost of the Borg if not a touch more in journal bearing , alot more in BB , and the Borgs turbine is bigger and better suited IMOP , the garret can be had in t-4 up to a 1.44 A/r , or up to a 1.15 in t-6 .

an s475 is an s475...its all made by borg warner. its like asking if a ppe tuner from xtremediesel is better then one from underground diesel.

long as all the specs are the same (and the compressor cover) you're good

Not really true. "S475" and similar is Bullseye Power's Nomenclature. If you get a 75mm turbo from a Borgwarner dealer it's not called a S475, it's called a 75mm S400.

Right off Bullseye's website

"Warning!!! Please be aware that other turbo shops are selling turbos called S372, S374 and so on. This nomenclature is exclusive to Bullseye Power. Do not expect the same results from this turbo if it is not purchased from one of our authorized distributors. If you don't see this tag you're not getting a genuine Bullseye Power turbo."

This is such a good way to classify a BW turbo, but not many people know the origin of such nomenclature, and it seems to get abused more often than not.
