If Craig's List ain't cutting it, you might try www.copart.com

It's best if you have a business license. I have one, so local friends see me if you don't.

Working on a $6000 2003 Z06 Corvette right now. Runs great, needs about $3k of body parts if it was to be driven on the street. We are using the engine and smog for the Blue Meanie (2002 Z06) to return it to smog stock for SCCA Solo2 Competition.

Good to know, I'll check it out. I've been looking for a second DMAX to use as a DD but the prices around here are through the roof!!

Be careful.

A lot is misrepresented and you are up against guys who do this as a profession.

Word. Both the seller and buyers are junkyards and insurance buyers.

They move hundreds of wrecks a year.

You figure out what you are looking for, and what you are willing to pay, and if you lose an auction don't sweat. There will be another shortly.

You can only look at the car/truck at the lot. You can't drive it, or lift it in the air.

In my case, I knew the engine was good, and the car was complete. So I got the car for what a junkyard would charge for the just the parts I needed.

Copart does check and list if the vehicle runs, but their representation of running doesn't mention if it knocks or smokes at all.

And the amount of rigs, cheap fixes it took to get it to "run"

I bought a nice low milage LBZ pullout, from a yard up north. I had them send me pics of the rig and damage before I bought the eng/Trans. About a month later I recieved a call from a yard down by you, asking how to tell if a motor/Trans was year correct. After finding out that they had an 07 with an 02 LB7 and 5spd Trans, we dug a little deeper. He ended up buying the truck at auction, from the same company I bought the LBZ eng/Trans from. It ended up being the same truck, verified with the pics they sent me..

Alot of vehicles from hurricane sandy were re-titled in southern states and are being funneled back into the market via these auctions. Do some reseaarch and I;m not talkin just a carfax.

I've been waiting for my friends 08 LMM to show up for a few weeks now. Low miles, 48k and got rolled several times due to the lack of a 4x4 light in the dash... New Toyo M/T's, beer, and donuts [spinning kind, not the eating] caused a different rotation angle than expected. :woott:

Anyways I turned it down as a 6k buy back option cause the turbo was leaking, trany is shot, and the tuned ECM is powering another truck now. I'll bid on it, but knowing what I know, wouldn't give 5k even though it looks like a steal when ya first see it...

It's a White crew.. Beware....
