I would have expected a failure at this point. I have beat the parts fairly hard. I can only attribute the longevity to, reduced CR. My up pipes are glowing RED, no, BRIGHT red on every pull video. I don't know the drive pressure. I would guess over 130?

One thing I have noticed is that my oil pressure is high. 70-80 at idle(cold).

I see 35-40 on the guage immediately after a pull at idle. Maybe I'm squirting enough oil on the pistons to keep them living. I would assume the oil pressure is high because we built the motor fairly tight on the mains and rods. Other than that the sender could be bad and it will puke tomorrow.
OT, sorry. Since I'm OT, why don't we drive a dry sump pump off the belt and plumb it into the lower galley that supplies oil to the squirters. I hope Todd doesn't read this or he will have it designed by tomorrow.:D

Cool, good info from ya steve. I'm gonna be a drive pressure tester along with larry if he goes for it. He did order a driver pressure setup if I remember right. I've got a couple of housing and will be ordering another soon for the a5k. I surely can't be running as much fuel as you, but will post mine and larry's results in a thread. Or well larry will probably post his own. But thing is, I'd like to see where the drive pressure goes for sure.

I gotcha. Thanks

I wonder though? How does high drive pressure lead to high cylinder pressure? With the piston at tdc, with the exhaust valve open, how much of the total volume will stay behind in the cylinder with a 20 or 30psi change in back pressure? What I mean is with such a small space compressed to say 100 psi, how much difference will be made by decreasing the psi to 70 psi? I remember putting an egt probe in a 7.3na diesel and being floored at the temps. Adding a charger to the same engine with the same fuel increased drive pressure from near zero to 30psi. Thing is the truck ran cooler, egt's were lower, and quite a bit more power was made. Just curious is all... Thanks

I take my stupid sign now:eek:

What i meant to say in a round about way was high drive pressure= higher egts more than likely leading to piston failures and high BOOST #'s leading to increased cyl pressure causing rod failures and even mayby helping cause piston failures due to the HOT pistons having the extra pressure pounding them.

Hope that makes sense, But then agin i could be totally wrong here too?

No reason for signs of any type.

I'm just trying to be prepared and have a full understanding of what I've got into. I also would like to help make ideas clear and be part of good readings. Everyone has information, I'm just hoping we can all take our information and put it together to make sense of it all. Just trying to understand myself. Thanks for your response.

No problem, thats all i try to do, use everyones thoughts and ideas and experiences try to make my own thoughts and ideas from there using bits and peices of everything i learn and or read while maybe others do the same from my experiences and so on!!!
