hypothetically speaking (because i like my interior), what all would be involved in changing the interior color from tan to charcoal? would a different dash be needed, or repaint the original? carpet, door panels, console... and how about the seats? covers or replace?
after considering all of this, what kind of budget would be needed?

i'm trying to convence a friend not to be too picky on a vehicle if it can be had for a good deal.

1700 dollars?!??? Seriously? Where are you getting those prices??

katzkin is way less than that and 10x better than the factory leather.

My dash is peeling and its scratched/rubbed and it's dark (black?) underneath, as long as you get a quality paint that wont crack or peel under heat or cold you should be good and that has good adhesion (polyurethane perhaps?) . Even my gauge pod with a spray bomb paint has lasted through -40C winters here in Canada

agreed.

in all honesty, if he gets a truck and doesn't like the interior, he'll probably take it to an upolstery shop to get it changed.

all an upholstery shop will do is prep the pieces and paint them. A buddy of mine in Texas used to own an upholstery shop. And yes, he also worked in it. And he was one of the better ones in Palestine. Or in that area for that matter.

isn't the factory dash painted anyway? i'm sure it is because i have a small scratch on it and it's black underneath.

it is but what the factory uses hold up better than the guys that come out to the dealers and paint them. I've just seen to many come back and customers not happy.

Katzkin is a great route to go , I have it in two vehicles.. and you could in all essence keep your dash tan, change your headliner and carpet to black and then get tan and black seat so it all flows together... would look pretty good IMHO
