LB7: Changing Injectors

Hey guys i just took my truck to my local diesel specialist to check balance rates on my injectors and i found out i have 3 bad ones. So instead of paying their $90.50 per hr shop rate to change them i think imma try and change all of them myself if i can. Do you guys have any hints or tips for me to make it any easier? Do you think it is worth it for me to do it or should i just take it to them and let them deal with the mess?? Thanks for your help! I hope i can save some money and do it myself

BUY BOSCH REMANS! Dont waste your time with "Joe's Injector Rebuilders" el-cheapo rebuilds.

hardest part imo is the drivers side back few valve cover allen heads... when you put the bit in the allen head tap it with a hammer or wrench to make sure the allen is fully seated, that way you don't round them off.

PS, plenty of people here sell replacement bolts for those valve covers that make going back together a hell of a lot easier.

I am not mechanically inclined and I changed my injectors and would do it again. I was slow and meticulous, cleaned everything while I was in there. I followed the first DIY listed in "TheBac's" post above.

I worked in a tight poorly lit garage. I recommend you have space, safe place to lay parts out for later reassembly. Buy the recommended tools if you don't already have them. Take pictures while you disassemble, they are helpful when you put it back together.
