I just got a high mileage truck and I'm not wanting to do anything wild just have a nice daily. I'm getting some white smoke so I'm about to change the fuel filter and do the GM cleaner.

Should I put the new fuel filter on before I do that? Or after? Also I'm going to change the oil and put a new ac Delco filter on. Should I wait until after just incase there is some fuel getting in from injectors and the clean helps it until I can get the injectors replaced?

My plan is swap fuel filter (have the good original part number one) do the clean, change oil and run some diesel kleen in the tank. Truck is showing no codes, fires right up but injectors are a little loud. Doesn't sound like the ice pick video though.

Your current plan sounds good (new fuel filter before the clean, oil change after).

I'm not sure how much more life you'll get out of the injectors with the clean, so probably start setting some money aside for new ones. Even LLYs go through injectors eventually.

Yes that is the current plan, do this for now and save for some injectors. Thanks for your reply.

Im pretty much dealing with the same thing. I did the gm upper engine cleaner and half gallon of diesel today. I was actually impressed with the results. Not bad. Ill see how long it lasts. But i would do the filter after you do the cleaning. But i really don't think it matters. I dont have stock filter location anymore so i used my filter head and bought a new filter today and kinda made my own set up to do this cleaning service.
