Really neat Simon... I want to dress up my underhood some with painting/coating/powdercoating/something my valve covers, turbo pedestal, turbo piping, etc etc.

As far as stuff in a can, looks like that VHT stuff is the way to go? I just got in new uppipes today and want to coat them. Does anyone know where I can get that stuff?

Should be able to get it at one of your local parts stores. I personally use the VHT flameproof paint, it's good from 1300-2000 degrees. Seems to hold up better than the engine enamel. $.02

Yup was just on the manufacturer website looking at that stuff - Im going to check Kragen and Autozone today. Id like to do my valve covers, uppipes, exhaust manifolds, maybe a few other things.

I'm not sure if Autozone carries it but I know Checker/O'reillys does. I've ran this stuff quite a bit with zero issues.

I have played with a few and the only one that held up was something I got from work. It is for touching up turbine parts in the field. I forget what it was called but I looked into getting it but since it was industrial it was SUPER $$$$$$$$

Duplicolor use to make a 1200* paint before the VHT paint that I had really good success with if the proper prep is done. The VHT stuff is really thin (likes to run) and doesn't go far (bad coverage/can) compared to the older Duplicolor stuff.

FWIW Duplicolor and VHT are the same company now:)

What about flame spray coating? We use a stainless in or vessels and put it on 20 thousants coating. I seen they have a ceramic coating good for 3000 deg. It's a TeroDyn system 2000 machine.

You use them in pressure vessels? Sounds pretty cool
you need to spray the pistons with that stuff:hello::D
