2400 and 4000? seris allisons are the same as the 1000 but stronger

no adam..

the 1000 and 2000 series (that includes the 2000, 2400, 2350, 2200, etc) are "identical". They have slightly different gear ratios, a different converter, and thats about it AFAIK. Almost all parts between the 1000 and 2000 series are interchangeable, save for the planetaries because they have different amounts of teeth to net the slightly lower ratios.

Some 2000 series transmissions dont have a park pawl, but thats really the only "big" difference.

the 3000 and bigger allisons (along with the AT series) are completely different than the 1000/2000

If you want a big engine to put up front and are willing to sit back about 2 feet, a 12V92 Detroit 2-stroke can be put in an F-250 and turned up past 2500HP. It's been done.

I think it is but not sure if the 12V-92 is a 2 stroke or not, but the 2 stroke Detroits sound BAD-ASS!

DT466... might be able to find one of those in a school bus for cheap.

Lots of guys use those in sled pull tractors dont they? I recall getting an email of a tractor that had a 466 and the headgaskets didn't blow on it... it split the block completely about 3" below the head.

When you consider the engine weighs 3900lb, who needs hanging weights?

In theory they have to have the superchargers on there, otherwise it wouldn't run. I'd say they're in there somewhere.

Yeah they need positive manifold pressure just to run normally, They usually stick up way further than the "valve" cover though, Id like to see how they are doing that, way cool nun-the-less!

they have air chambers that dump into the cylinders, pistons act as a valve so no intake valves in the head.
The big scallop boat I worked on has a 16v-92 TT around 800hp, the HO 16v-92s had quad turbos & made 1600hp
All the 12 & 16 cylinder motors are 6 & 8 motors bolted together
