I know this has been asked a million times and I've used search and read about every post. But I can't decide which way to go. I'm about 80% sure I'm gonna go with cast fingers. But my builder suggested forged. I'm goin to be pushing 900-1000hp for now and probably go for more in a couple years. I drive it mostly weekends and if I got to go to the city. I've owned the truck for 5 1/2 years and have only put 20000 miles on it. I'm lucky to put 5000 a year on it but that can always change. So what would be you're guy's choice?

That's what I've been leaning towards. I'd like to get as many miles out of it as I can. Idk if mileage is still an issue on forged or not. Everything I read was from about 4 years ago.
I knew you guys would know best. I'm gonna have well over 20k in this thing and wanna do it right the first time. In a perfect world I'd like to get 100000 miles without new rings. But I also understand that's a good stretch for a built motor
Haha yeah 100k is along time if you plan on making any kind of power. I am thrilled that this built motor has lasted 15k so far. Figure it will go anytime lol
There is a new Diamond forged out that has steel ring lands. They are available in keystone aka stock type rings or performance thin rings and have three bowl configurations as well. A added benefit is weight reduction compared to cast pistons. That is where I would put my money if I were buying pistons.

If he's wanting 100k out of the engine i'd not be putting anything in but the tried and true Mahle Motorsports cast, whether it be finger's design or not. Hate to try something new that may not work out longevity-wise.
I talked to JJ couple months ago about said pistons... i like what they did.. but at ~50% more money?!! Not something I was willing to do with my line of work.
Fingers with The SS ring will do 100k miles no problem..
Out of the 383k miles, close to 250k of those miles on my truck, have been done with the finger pistons.
I seen those and they look very nice but I would like to see someone else run them first before I spend my money on them lol
I've put around 35-40k miles on my built motor, with fingers pistons, and it stays on my tune 3 most the time, which is roughly 750-800hp, every now and then I turn it up with spray. I'm not easy on my truck either. I get on it a lot.

I talked to my builder and he said he's never used fingers. But they have a few motors out there over 100000 with cast mahles. He also said the forged motors he's done the most now is 60000 and still goin strong. It's a hard decision guys honestly.
