No one that i know of has killed a forged piston ............................. except for Pat :D , Its a totaly different game to hold power for up to 60 sec straight than for 10-12 secounds IMOP .

Trent IIRC Onebadmax had cracks in a few of his ROSS forged pistons after 3 years of abuse. Had some ring issues mostly IIRC:( But there where sighns of cracking also

Does anyone foresee this happening to forged pistons at similar power levels in a less demanding situation (i.e. drag racing or pulling where the power is only used for a few seconds at a time)? I'm thinking that part of the problem was the length of time under full power on a LSR run.

My bet is that there is curve (trade offs curve) for how much time at what level the forged pistons are good for. This will be highly dependant on the tune (timing, pulse width), injector size (same things) and duration (how long it is at full power). There are some other variables which probably tweak the slope of this curve too (compression ratio, turbo, etc...). Each one of these things will change just how long they can last. 10-12 seconds of abuse is still abuse, but could be tolerated for longer than 60+ seconds. The big key is that if you have a set of monotherms in there vs. they will beat the forged stuff any day.
