Alcohol is legal, would it have been okay if he was drunk when this happened? ..just playing devils advocate...

he killed 6 and injured 13

for those that dont know.. all CMV drivers of anything over 26,000lb is required to submit random drug testing by law.

or better yet, keep criminals locked up

Alcohol is legal, would it have been okay if he was drunk when this happened? ..just playing devils advocate...

this is exactly correct

Give them a couple of year and drinking driving will be legal.

Heck, here in KY one front is fighting for legalizing marijuana all the while they are about to lower the legal BA limit from .08 to .05 I think.

I'm conflicted on how I feel about weed being legal for recreational use. If they can show a good (cheap and easy) way to test you on the spot for it, I'd be more inclined to give it a nod. I still believe it has addictive properties and is in fact a gateway drug, neither of which should be discounted or neglected as a "mundane detail"

I personally do not care if they legalize it, as long as they can have a 100% way of telling if someone is high and they make the penalty just as painful as a drunk driving one.

Never done it in my life, and since work has FAA mandated screening, do not see myself starting. Let dumb people be dumb.

THC stays in the system for up to 30 days, so that doesn't mean he was stoned while he was operating the machine. Some people are just inherently stupid, and that guy doesnt sound like the brightest bulb in the strand. And it sounds like the whole operation was kinda shady to begin with.

Yeah, I know that. Just wondering why they would change it.
to catch more, CDL driver is .04
It's not like something being illegal stops anyone from doing it, as others have said you can just as easily be drunk.
its a natural detruent
Because at .05 ba is when your reaction times are slowed down..
working of 4 hours of sleep then 8-10 hours sober slows your reaction time as well.

ohio is considering lowering BAC ro .04

i personally never did anything illegal drug wise.. i have absolutely no desire to either... the second hand smeel of weed makes me sick to my stomach

That doesn't seem to prove true here in Ca.

I couldn't agree with you more and I've also never touched anything illegal

The issue isn't with .08, they don't count for many of the accidents, it is the guy/girl at .15 on his/her 4 DUI that kills people

The issue with weed is it is hard to 100% tell how "high" someone is. there are effective test to tell if you are on it, but not stuff that will hold up in court on how high someone is

Its like this, it absolutely should be legalized! This coming from a pretty conservative guy.

The guy operating the machine was an obvious deadbeat, and doesn't reflect any of the potheads Ive met.

Breath tests for weed is coming soon, look it up. When you have several relatives literally waste away and die from cancer, it changes your perspective a lot. :(

BTW, weed is the gateway to more taco bell, not harder drugs! LOL

Tell that to someone who's lost a family member when they got hit by a driver with a BAC of .08. I'd trust pot heads roaming the streets long before I'd trust people driving at .08.

I just read that the toxicology reports said dude had prescription pain killers in his system. I would place a bet on those having more of an effect on him than some shitty weed. Most people I know that are addicted to Vicodin/OC are heroin junkies too. There's people driving around everyday way more f'd up on "LEGAL" prescriptions. Those should be outlawed & the BAC should be lower IMO. Its already lower for those of us that have a CDL.

Yeah, this guy looks like a junkie. I should know, there's hundreds of them in my town. :(
