There is an oring that might have caused it to stick but if you are prying on it it should have popped loose

it should be really loose and you have to finish with a lot of cussing and screaming to get it out... wiggle the shit out of it.

  1. Remove the fuel injection pump bolts.
IMPORTANT: Be careful not to damage any mating surfaces.

  1. Remove the fuel injection pump from the block. Use 2 screwdrivers to work the pump from the block towards the rear of engine keeping the pump straight.
  2. The fuel injection pump may need to be rotated in order to remove it from the vehicle.

cam gear

On mine I had to pull the little tab with one bolt holding it on the front of the block about cp3 level. Use a suitable tool (that is what the gm manual says) I used of all things a door knob line up tool the cam gear is spring loaded push towards the pasengers side while pulling the cp3 off. Installing is the same.

I dunno I always pry a little at a time on each side and walk it out. Not insulting you but you have got to be doing something wrong

Take the oil fill tube off and use a bar against the shaft and it should come right out.

That has always worked for me. Just don't get too crazy with the bar and break the front cover.

As you're backing it out you'll need to start rotating it towards either the DS or PS but the regulator side comes out first.
