Going from a 3 inch idler to a 3.5 nets you 1.25 inches longer belt if its running 3/4 around the idler. Like I said when I added that big pulley I had perfect tension but it rubbed. So loosing 1 inch belt length with the stock idlers oughta be about as good as it gets. Less I'm missing something.

Bringing this back up since I’m having issues tearing up my belt when I run my truck all out . First it starts chewing up one side of the belt then I did a test hit on tune 3 and it cut the belt in half and chunked it . S Phinney can you tell me if your belt routing will work with a PPE dual fueler on an LBZ, if it will what part # and brand belt are you using ? And will it help keep my belt in place ? I have mine routed like the LBZ PPE instructions show to route it which is different than what you have .

Thats a stock dual alternator length belt on there. This past summer i saw some pics of LBZ guys that ran a setup similar to that. i tried it on my truck but couldnt get the belt to keep tension that way. plus you need to run a bolt that is flush to the accessory mount or it will cut a belt up fast... found that out the hard way. The Dayco tension also is a bigger body and needs to be trimmed/sanded down.

i wound up going to a 149" belt and running the belt like this. but didnt use the larger idler by the tensioner. i would recommed getting it as my belt doesnt have proper tension (going to get one myself).

even with the looser tension, i have not thrown a belt or had issues like the old routing would (original dual fueler routing)

Cool. I’ll try anything, it sucks that my truck totally haulsass but I’m having issues with the belt . What is the part # and brand name on the belt ? Where can I buy a bigger pulley and what brand and part # on it ? Thanks for your help ! Once I get it fixed I’m headed to the track to see if I can get a lower 9 sec run in the 1/4 .

Bumping this one up the large pulley that comes in the PPE kits won't fit next to the idler pulley like the picture that James posted below I was thinking maybe trying to run it to the right of the big one in the picture and a small one next to the idler on my lb7 with the 149 inch belt anybody else try that? I got the wrong belt with my PPE kit so figured might as well try the way that James posted in the picture. The pulley that comes with the PPE kit is a Gates 38002 but I don't think the spacer comes with it.

Edit: the large pulley won't fit next to the fan pulley either there's not enough room for the belt between the two so what's everyone using?

Problem I had with mine is the pulley on my dual fueler was not straight up and down so I had to shim between the pump and the bracket on the top bolt to get it plumb . I thought it was fixed but then it still kept chunking the belt . I had my friend Quinton reset my shift points to 4000 instead of 4400. It’s been staying on now . I’m my case the belt didn’t like 4400 RPM. But I’m sure the dual fueler pump pulley being out of plum didn’t help either .

the idler placement on 02-05 trucks is different than the pic i posted as its an LBZ-up routing. the idler is lower down on those. i have a feeling there are not as many 02-05 trucks doing this kind of routing. I only run an oversized idler between the dual fueler, power steering pump and A/C. other two are stock under the alternator. you can still have decent tension on the belt with 149" belt routed that way. im going to drill 2 new holes in the tensioner mount on the acc bracket so the tensioner clocks up a little more, this will give me more tension on the belt. i really dont think its an issue for most people but i want to get mine tight for fan reasons. ill be going to the solid hub for the summer and dont want slippage.
