Can you install the 07.5-10 steering box in a 00-06?

Searched all over and can't find any info on this.
Just as the title says - GM changed the steering gear box on the 07.5s and I understand the frame stayed basically the same till 2010.
So I have to replace my steering box and have a good line on a low mileage OEM 2009 box - can I use it assuming I also put the later pump on as well? (which research here says is a good upgrade anyways)

My understanding is all 2001-2010 steering boxes can be swapped, and that the 2008-2010 box is superior to the older box-- in stock form.

What I read is that the older boxes can be rebuilt stronger/better than the 2008-2010 boxes, though. If you just want a stock box for stock(ish) tires, throw a newer one on. But if that's not cutting it, you probably want to rebuild/modify your stock 2001-2007 box.

Basically. Blue top is cheaper and smaller scale production, same know how. Similar end product.
