I like the idea of the new air bag trailers, but just couldn't see how you would open the door on the car after loading. With the style I am building the axles are completely out of the way.

Slide axle and air bags would minimize the amount of travel needed to get the trailer on the ground.

Been sick the last few days. All I got done was the cross members on the "trolley". Time to get on the frame itself.

Thinking about expanded metal for deck. Thoughts??

I'm not a fan of expanded metal decking, at all. You need so much reinforcement under the deck to keep it from bending and bowing under weight that the savings aren't real there, weight or money.

I am more into "footing" issues. I have a tilt trailer now with metal tread plate. I unloaded a truck in the rain the other day and thought I was going to fall the deck was so slick!

Check out the Kwikload trailers they do the same thing. A manual brake lever to lock the front axle and then pull the safety pins and put the truck in reverse and lower the trailer. Pretty cool idea. I have seen them on Craigslist in Phx and at their website for less than $5k
