Can you fix ECMs?

Guy I had a spare ECM for my 01 lb7 and installed in the truck it was working

I then burnt a EFI licence and attemted to full flash a tune and it went into a unknown state

Can you fix it or do i need to purchase a new ECM and license?

There are people who can fix it... You have to pull the flash chip off it and then reburn it in an EEPROM reader. The hard part is getting the flash chip off the board, then you have to know what to flash into it.

In most cases I can fix the LB7 ecms, by replacing the flash chip.

Would you be able to fix the ECM on my LLY? The previous owner flashed it with something then traded it in without putting it back to stock. The dealership told me this was a $1600 fix... Yikes. From what I hear you are the man to talk to about ECMs though. So any help would be appreciated.

Guy has new ones listed on his website for $450 and he can flash it to your vin :thumb:

The dealer should just be able to put a new flash in it and put it back stock,

The dealers in our area charge $100 to hook up with the Tech II, read, then reflash for the stock settings and all the updates if you are out of warranty.

dealership fried mine when it lost connection to a tech 2 and had to get a new one...they said there was no fixing it but then again what do they know.
