Alright so i bought myself a 2003 CCSB LB7 too use as a puller. It is bone stock and has 380 000 KM, I am looking at a used s475 and 60% over tips. plan on pulling local as everyone else cheats :roflmao: then plan on tuning it too about 600 or 650. this would be on stock trans for pulling only. then have it turned down too about 350 to drive too the pull.

What is the thoughts on this? Or should i save the money from turbo and tips and put towards trans.

just wondering guys, i just know that these parts will be less than half the trans, i kind of wondered if the trans would hold up sled pulling with that kind of power. not looking like it. thanks!

As long as you keep it in third the trans will hold the power fine pulling. Soon as you hit 4th on the street it's gonna shit tho lol
It won't last forever but it'll last a little while. Years back I pulled 16 times on a stock trans with tts extreme tuning so probably 475-500 hp just kept it in third. The converter was eventully junk though lol

Can the trans hold it? Yes. The real problem will be shifting. A stock trans can hold alot of power, but it can't shift alot of power very well. If you lock it into 3rd in your tune so that it is in 3rd when you leave and stays there, the trans wil lhold for awhile. The converter on the other hand will probably not be happy the first few times it locks under power. The stamped cover and single clutch will HATE life under that kind of power.

yes the plan was locking in 3rd. quite possibly putting a convertor in it also but im just thinking out loud looking for opinions!

Build the trans and run the stock turbo for now. You can get 500-550 HP with stock charger and the truck as a whole will be much more reliable.

Use the stock turbo and build the trans. Some hot as shit tuning could probably get you close to 600. 60% overs and an s475 will destroy that motor if you're not careful

and the stock turbo pushing 600 won't?? if thats what it is it will be easier for me. would save about 2000 from not buying the turbo and tips at the moment, and put that towards trans.

It most likely will not give you 600hp. But enough to make keeping a stock turbo and building a trans worth it. You should focus on getting the power to the ground, that seems to be the challenge.

I say go for it. Get a good converter, dual fuelers, s475, injectors and see what happens. You never know the rods could come through the block before the trans blows.

I'm still waiting to check my rods through the inspection hole :roflmao:

3rd gear start and let her eat. I wouldn't even touch the injectors or the tranny. Have some fun with it and see what it will do. Just drive like a grandma on the street. BTW I have the complete install kit for it, minus the flange for the down pipe. I doubt the converter will hold, so have a trailer ready.
