He built the motor recently because he lost a piston. Ditched the EGR and the intake heater, put bigger nozzles on it. Nothing that i would think would effect its ability to at least start.

The voltage was getting low so its got a charger hooked up. Starter wires look good as far as i can tell. Haven't checked any fuses yet, that would be a good idea i suppose.

The rail pressure builds pretty quick when you turn it over, gets up to the 4-5k range but doesn't quite make it to 6k before the starter has a fit. Single C.

Sorry matt don't know what say

I would try to log as soon as the key is on and then start cranking
check voltage and rail pressure and see how fast the press ramps up

solenoid looks ok?

Thanks for helping me Simon! Ill check the fuses and double check all the grounds tomorrow. Maybe disconnect the starter signal and hook up a test light to see what its doing. That's about all i can dream up for now.

think mine is at 5150 rail at first startup. I know when I did my nozzles that the starter would do like that b/c I was overheating it (no bleeder for fuel) Wouldn't a loose ground for the starter also cause it to overheat?

Ya if the starter itself was causing the issues I think it would get hot pretty quick. I felt it and it didn't seem too bad. I'm gonna try manually jumping the starter today I think. As well as checking the signal wire leading to it.

5k psi of rail pressure should be more than enough to start the truck. When you are logging, is it showing the injectors are firing while cranking? Have you checked compression?

Well we got er running tonight! We jumped the starter for like 30 seconds and she fired right up! It was just being stupid I guess? Sounds good, especially with no turbo.

To get it to run without codes, just go into the engine diagnostics section, DTC MIL enablers and DTC Test enablers, and turn off all the turbo/boost related codes. Change them to No MIL and not reported and you should be good to go.

Is that all that needs to be done or do you need to do anything with vane position tables?
