Would any of you guys be willing to disclose the specs for the camshaft you run? Exampl; lift, duration, seperation, etc. Been researching different size cams but looking for real world use and how well it performs in your application would be a plus too. Trying to gage what the best cam would be for my build. Big twins, big injectors, dual pumps, heavy towing, etc. My goal is to hit 1000+hp then daily it at 600+hp. Not looing to see lists of supporting parts required at that HP. I am already aware.;) Thank you in advance.:D

a lot of the cam companies don't give the specs. I am running a socal 6480 alt fire order in mine. I have no issues hitting the power you mentioned.

I know they dont like to advertise their specs thats why I posting in regards to cams for the Dmax's. What is the labeled use or advertised area for that 6480? What is the advertised RPM it works well at? If a cam doesnt have specs, I wont buy it, lol. Just like building my LS motors and LSX, I want to know what I am putting in it.

ya, I hear you. I don't like buying stuff that does not advertise what it is. But I can tell you the turbos I have spool amazing throughout the entire rpm range.

I have the biggest cam Hamilton makes. Its for 2.6 sled trucks. Daily drive the truck with an s475. Spools quick and comes up on boost real fast. It would be a lot better with ported heads, but my EGTs dont above 1400º. His website says its 199-207-110LSA.

What about just cruising at lower RPM's? Do you tow at all? What about higher gears and torque converter locked, how well do turbos respond? Lots of smoke down low? Thanks for the input too guys!!:thumb:

How is your drivability at lower RPM's, etc?

It does smoke some but all non variable vain turbos do. Crushing at you cant tell anything is done to the truck. I haven't had it running long enough to tow anything yet. It's been running now for abt 2 weeks.

I think it drives really well. If you punch it at 0 boost it'll smoke and bitch, but the boost comes up really quick. Going from 15-50 psi happens in a split second. The guy that built it said it was the best driving 75mm single he's ever been in, and I'm still on a stock cp3. Anything under 2k rpm and its a dog, like most larger non-vvt chargers. But in the upper RPM range it doesnt quit pulling until 4k.

Nice, Its def still fresh motor then. I gotta say that your build spread is definately legit!!:thumb: I found out the 6480 is a mild street/tow oriented type cam. I would love to do a more extreme build but it gets crazy expensive fast, lol. Do you have a build thread or videos driving around at all?

I have a trend on here of the build, as with all I still have more I want to do with it. There is one cam higher then the one I have, I did shallow pockets on the piston tops so this was the biggest I could get.

I just bought a cam with 190/192 111LSA and .410/.436 lift. It is a drop in if it is installed at 102 to 106. I am just running stock delipped LB7 pistons no notches. The heads will be cnc ported with + 1 mm valves. I don't gain that much more CFM between 400 and 450 so I figured that lift would work fine.

Do you need to run different springs with that much lift? Also what do you mean by 102 to 106? Degrees? Thanks for the input.

Altering the install degrees is what he is talking about. It is called degeeing the camshaft but you need the cam card to do that and either degreeing keys or a aftermarket adjustable gears and cover which is expensive.

Yes, the cam manufacturer would like to see 130 seat pressure.
102 to 106 degrees is where u install the cam when building the motor
See u tube degreeing a cam. There are a couple videos on it
I am running aftermarket springs and retainers on my set up

Yes phinney is correct. :thumb: offset keys are the cheaper way to go. The adjustable gear is only for high end stuff. For guys that want to play with cam timing to move power levels around at different RPM levels.
see the picture These are like 650 to 700 though ouch!!!
