Does anyone know the PN for the cam plug?

It can be dorman or GM whatever. I think it is 2 9/16 or the Metric equivalent, the hole measures 2.5625.

It came out of the block upon removal of the cam and I can't find it. I'll post up the budget build when I'm done with it.

What are you talking about exactly? Where does it go on the motor?

Every other engine I have put together has a welch/expantion/freeze? plug on the back side of the motor, pressed into the block, covering the rear of the cam. I am assuming the Duramax has one also but I have lost, misplaced or imagined that it ever existed.

Any help would be awesome it's the only thing holding me up getting the short block finished.

When I built mine, this tripped me up for a bit. I was also expecting one, coming from the gas motor builds in the past.
There is no such thing on a Duramax.
^^ Exactly. Works fine! The thrust plate on the front takes care of everything.
