Has Anyone tried a cam swap without head removal?
Just wondering if the lifters will move out of the way enough if you roll the engine upside down on the sand to change the cam without removing the heads????

It can be done. You'll have to pull the valve covers and all the stuff in the way to gain access the the lifters. Upside down might work or you can do something like this guy did with magnets

I’m sure it can be, not far off of how you pull the cam on a cummins with hydraulic lifters

Oh by the way, cleaning small hardware is one of my least favorite shop chores. If any of you feel the same but are OCD about everything being new looking clean?
I reload amo and wet tumble my brass. I found my Franklin Arsenal tumbler with a Simple Green solution does an awesome job on the hardware. I have been tearing down three motors and I may buy a new tumbler and leave this one in the shop...

I used to go crazy with my brass, but then I found the LSD recipe. Powder not liquid Lemi-shine! It’s amazing. I’ll clean a 5gal pail of brass in minutes and it looks great.

I use a squirt of dish soap and a 45 acp case full of Lemi shine with hot water in the wet tumbler for brass, Simple Green for hardware.
I am thinking able picking up one of Harbor Freights big stainless altrasonic cleaners. Maybe fill it with Evapo Rust and try it on injector lines.
