Back on topic, i thought the bottom hole was supposed to work best but i wish i would have at least tried the top < no homo :thumb:

Not necessarily right on either accounts. This is the best information I've seen posted on Caltrac setup. Post #11 specifically, but some good info through out the thread. Hope this helps.

Don't tell Pat that!... You will ruin my reputation!!! LOL

Using the adjustment philosiphy I described there and learned from from my buddy, I have been cutting some pretty good and consistant 60's for a 6900 lb. truck. Still takes some small tweaking though. The most accurate way to do it is actually to have someone under the vehicle adjusting them while under footbrake load. But that is pretty dangerous!!

Here is a 1.53 sixty and I pull consistant low to mid 1.50's

A video of that pass is at 0:48 in this video

I was thinking about the rounds you two have went while I was posting it. I don't have time to look but I do remember something being posted to the effect of you only being on the forums to talk smack. Not for any real tech. :D

They are installed along with a few leafs removed. As far as settings, we will do at the track tomorrow night. :D

how many leafs did you take out? i was thinking about removing my helper spring to see if i can cut better 60's and to lower the rear another 1''. i have 2'' drop shackles...but its still a little higher than my front with the T-bars slammed.

Keeping sone rake, will help you with your launch in 4wd. But it really isn't going to hurt being completly level.leave all but 2 leafs in.

so take the helper +1 out?

EDIT: how will that effect ride comfort? i keep the caltracs pretty tight because i cant stand the clickity clack noises that they make. so the rear feels pretty tight. if i take the 2 springs out, do you think it will loosen that up?

i know this is an old thread but when you take the overload spring out and additional leaves out do you use the old center bolt in the spring.

You'll have to get some washers that fit inside the spring for more then 1 I think. They are either 8 or 10mm, thinking 10. That's to be precise, but I've seen people just use a fender washer which doesn't locate the spring bolt as well but "works fine"

So on a manual truck I dump the clutch off the line
I would just do the half turn of static preload? Be like releasing a brake?

I was just making sure cause i was looking at center bolts I have at work and I didn't want the shank on the bolt be to long and the threads bottom out. Thanks for the help.
