Not as fun as me having to smog my 2007 diesel powered truck...Oh, they want another $125 as compared to last year...Priceless...

Here's priceless. My old mans '98 T100 costs more to register in CA than my '05 Dury costs me in NV. I know why I left..... Not sure why they're staying. Everything there, at least in San Diego, is easily %50 more than it is here and at least twice what it could be in Idaho or UT.

I wouldn't have left if I could have afforded anything there....SD is a pretty nice town. Houses, land, cost of starting a business though..... F that. Cheaper here.

So has anyone actually smogged in California yet? I'm taking mine in tomorrow to just find out whats going on and see if I can get them to pass it. My guess is that some of the smaller shops won't even know what to do since this is so new. The smoke test and the visual should be easy to get away with if you have a guy you know or someone that is partial to a little extra green in their pocket. I'm taking mine to a friend of a friend so we will see.

My truck is a 2004 GMC Duramax. Aftermarket exhaust, Aftermarket intake and Edge/Juice Programmer.

Well I went. First thing the guy did was check my intake for the smog legal ae sticker but it wasn't there..Second thing the guy did was ask where my exhaust filter was (which is not there either). Although there was a discrepancy. According to a sticker on my exhaust manifold the filter should be there but according to a reference book my 2004 didn't come with it.

He passed me but only because I had a friend with me that was good friends with him..He actually told me not even for $1000 would this guy pass my truck under different circumstances.

Good luck guys..Seems like some of these guys are pretty knowledgeable..I would definitely recommend doing your smog checks sooner then later before these guys get get way good at failing us. I shopped around and a few smog shops told me they had not even had to smog a diesel yet so there still are virgins out there. :)

*cough* BS *cough*:D

I just smogged mine yesterday. Regular occurance for us in Las Vegas. Failed round one since my PCV was non stock  .... Had the EGR unblocked, no CEL's, cat back in place and I get failed for that.... WTF?!?!? Hooked it back up and passed.

Thay're gettin pretty picky up here about whats on the trucks anymore.

Good luck with all the CARB crap though....
