Well since the durahome is sold I have been on the hunt for a used pusher. I wanted air ride and air brakes as the durahome was a little rough riding. I found a 1997 monaco signature 40 ft ,one owner rig that has been stored inside. 130,000 miles on a 450 hp cummins, that was an upgrade in those days. Wood floors, new TV and satellite, newer tires ,2 year old fridge and 10 k generator. Talked him onto the 30 grand range. Hopefully I can go pick her up friday in alabama. No slides but it has a good floor plan and this type of rig actually has real wood cabinets and real tile in the bathroom. If I get her I will post up the pics.

There are a lot of pushers with that hp rating. I've seen the some of the bigger ones rated at 550 - 600 hp

X2 but for no slides and that old, it's more than likely lighter than the newer stuff so that 450hp ought to scoot that rig and a loaded trailer right on down the road

Most are is or ism engines. My buddy has a 350 hp isc,1000 pounds of torque. Ism is around 400-500 hp depending on the coach manufacturer. Nowadays a big engine in an rv would be a isx 600 hp. Of course if you have 300,000 grand or more.

True, but that particular coach is 35,000 pounds. Monaco and others back then used heavy building materials, vs some rigs today. My buddy has a 2010 tag axle 42 winnebago tour,4 slides. Weighs almost the same as the one I would like to purchase. But I agree, that rig will go down the road.

Damn!! That is the same weight as my dads old 06 40ft 4 slide Monaco Camelot. Same 450hp rated engine. Not sure if it's the same but it had the generation cummins 8.3 just before the emissions bs.

Only things he didn't like was the fact the bags gave the coach a decent amount of sway in cross winds or passing truckers. Just didn't feel 100% stable all the time and kinda wore on you on loooong drives. I drove it a few times and didn't bug me much though. The side radiator did help keep temps down unless the stacker trailer was on the back, then she would get hot on decent hills and you would have to slow down. He's got a new 45ft freightliner based coach (truck style front end) and driving that is like sitting in your Dmax cruising down the road. You forget there is 35 more ft behind you. It has the 600hp cummins and holy hell can it pull hills fast with the stacker behind it.

The Old monaco pushers are on a road master chasis, 8 Ir bags not sure about a 2006. Sounds like your dad had a dream rig. The man that owns the one in question bought it new ,and tried to keep it modern somewhat. At least it was stored inside ,the sun kills all of them.

Yea I realize that, but a 40ft with no slideouts

Yes,a 40 foot with no slides ,and it is an ism engine. It has 130,000 miles, not really much. I have a friend with a 98 monaco with the 330 hp isc engine,he has over 250,000 on his. I'm sure everyone has a story or stories of failures, just like a duramax.

Leaving tommorrow night in a rental, driving to auburn Alabama, and if it's all good I will bring her home Saturday. The old man selling it is really attached to it,owned it since it was new,but health issues have slowed him down.
