Pump rub on the transfer case, balance rates, front cv's, rocker panel rot, cab corner rot, bed support rail rot, lbz seems to be prone to rust on the bed supports, other than that a good all around walk through of it.
The flip side to that could be an engine that had been ragged on (a fact that would make me, personally, very leery of an LBZ) and has potential issues.
EGR and cooler have been deleted
Here's the latest on the DMax. Seller says it won't pass smog because of the aftermarket parts (not really a surprise). He says that the shaft is broken (?) and there is metal in the transmission filter. He has been running a programmer on it. Should I be concerned about the engine getting run too hard / too hot?
I'm not trying to over think this, I just don't want to inherit a pain in the arse. I'm going to see it Saturday so I'm just trying to get prepared before then.

The trans can fail at less than or around 100whp over stock if run long enough and hard enough on said tune, but it typically takes much more than that to snap an input or output shaft, or a serious shock load to the trans. The LBZ has it's weaknesses fer sure but the engine typically fails at much more power than that, but a bad tune isn't going to do it any favors. I think your first course of action would be to establish exactly what tune he had and from who, the aftermarket parts he utilized for this "extra" power and how long he ran it for with the tune, and how much power this rig was actually puttin down
When the trans fails having debris in the external and internal filters and also the trans cooler and trans lines is to be expected and I would advise to replace all of it, sure the hard parts can be flushed and or cleaned and the filters replaced, but I'm not about taking chances with stuff like that.
The price for the truck is pretty fair, all things considered, however, all things considered, you could be inheriting a problem well beyond the transmission. If at all possible, I would reach out to the members here, and ask for someone to accompany you in the assessment of this rig, a few beers and dinner go a long way:hug:
But be careful, too many beers and the right (or wrong dinner) might just get you more than you bargained for

Good luck man, keep us posted:hello:

Shaft breakage at 100rwhp tune seems unlikely to me...
