Check line pressure. Pull the plug next to the spin on filter, put a good sized pan under the hole where you removed the pressure plug. Start engine in park, and rev it to about 2,000 rpm for a couple of seconds. Fluid should gush out. Shut off engine right away. If you don't get a gusher, your pump is hurt.

I didn't even have to Rev it up and it was gushing out.

Has anyone had an input failure at speed? I'd figure it'd happen at a dig with a shock load. I guess if you exceed its strength with torque it's apt to bow out.

What torque are they typically "safe" to?

they are kinda a "they break or they dont" type deal. i know most recommend above 800hp to put one in but below that, its hit or miss. Mike has said in past, on the ones that break at lower hp, looking at the break, it seems hardening didnt go deep enough into the shaft.

Been quite a few inputs broken at speed. If you have the power, and the converter is locked and you break the tires loose at speed; as soon as the tires hook, the shaft tends to break.

I was at speed when this one let go. Mike described it perfectly, I had broke loose then when it went to go it's like it slipped into neutral. Had nothing

My billet shafts have been great. 1000whp, 7000lbs, probably a couple hundred 50 mph+ rolling burnouts catching rediculous traction mid way through.

:D

Hey everyone im having this identical problem. Like exactly, and i cant seem to find the right pids to monitor input and output speed and turbine speed on efi live scan tool. Im thinking broken input but i hope not. This trans was in matt misners race truck and supposedly held very high hp. But does have the stockers in it

Pull up the turbine speed sensor. It better read 0 at a standstill while in gear. If it reads RPM speed like the tach; you have a broken input shaft.

Ok i had to validate pids, turbine speed stays zero but also stays zero when revving it up?
